One of the steps in growth as young Christians is coming to the Lord’s Table. We call this stage in a young person’s life “Disciples’ Communion”. This has been established in our Church as a step prior to Confirmation/Commissioning, and happens when our youth are in the 5th grade.
As a part of the process, parents and students meet with the staff members and are given materials to assist them in preparing for and understanding the Lord’s Supper. By studying and comparing the Gospels, families will get different points of view as to what it was like to follow Jesus, and what it means to love and serve Him. There will also be follow-up meetings to help with any questions that arise, and ultimately to meet with members of our session. By the time our 5th graders take communion for the first time, we pray they’ll know that just as Jesus welcomed the disciples to break bread with Him at the last supper, He welcomes all who love and trust Him to His table today.
It would be our joy to be a part of this wonderful faith-step for your son or daughter. This year, our initial meeting with students and parents will be on January 29, following the 11:00am service. To register contact Michael Barozzie at Michaelb@pctr.org.
