Jesus sent His followers into their neighborhood, into their community, among the people that they knew. Today, He is sending us into our neighborhoods, into our schools, into our workplaces, into our neighborhoods, even into our own families.
We are called to move out into our community. We go and serve those who are hurting, who are lost, who are hungry, who are alone, who are longing for something better, and who are seeking. We seek opportunities to use our skills and abilities and our resources to serve our community in Toms River and the surrounding area.
We often partner with local non-profits and missions to serve our community more fully. Some of those mission partners include:
Hope Center
The Hope Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization initiated by the Clergy Association of Greater Toms River. Their mission is to provide support, resources, referrals, food, and limited financial assistance to clients as they work to overcome current life crisis.
Urban Promise
The mission of Urban Promise is to equip children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership. They strive to fulfill this mission through after-school programs, summer camps, two schools, experiential learning, job training and a host of other programs that challenge youth to develop and realize their full potential.
Hope Sheds Light
HOPE exists, as families in recovery, to share hope and joy with others. The mission of HOPE Sheds Light is to raise awareness and educate individuals, families, and the community about the impact of addiction by having the courage to share personal experiences and offer strength, wisdom, hope, and resources that lead to positive community change and long-term recovery.
Pop The Trunk (A FulFill Food Bank)
Every Friday, a dedicated group of volunteers gather in our parking lot at 1070 Hooper Ave in Toms River to distribute food to those in our community who need it. Distribution begins around 8 am and concludes at noon. Registration is not required. Cars line up in the lot, pop their trunks and volunteers will place the food available that week in the trunk of each car.
Night to Shine (Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation)
PCTR was proud to host Night to Shine sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation on February 9, 2024. This special event is a prom night experience, centered on God’s love for people with special needs age 14 and older. We look forward to planning (and hosting!) Night to Shine in 2025 and we’ll have an extensive list of volunteer roles to be filled when we do!
