Children are a vital part of our ministry at PCTR. The words of Jesus, “Let the little children come to me,” are our guide as we seek to provide opportunities for our children to know and love our Lord.
Children are invited to attend Church School each weekend as well as midweek programs such as AIM Club and Star Club where a caring, committed team of teachers and advisers bring God’s word to life. Children learn, play, sing, and pray together—in a loving, Christian atmosphere—building relationships with others which will take them into their adolescent years.
Perhaps one of the most important elements to our children’s programs is allowing the children to offer their praises to God in song. Children have the amazing ability to sing and praise with everything they have – something that we are all called to do. Whether they are leading in worship or just for fun, there is nothing like the joy they bring to all who hear them!
Be sure to know God is counting on you to bring your “little one” to the Lord. There is a children’s group to match every age, and newcomers are always welcome—at any time during the year. Don’t hesitate! Sign up today!
As families are worshiping, children are invited to join in the fun of learning the stories from the Bible. Children 3 years through 5th grade begin their learning as they worship together. Children’s worship includes great songs, prayer requests and prayers, offering and children’s message based on our lesson. Then off to class where children experience the story in a variety of ways. Using Orange 252 – a wonderfully fresh and interactive curriculum – the passages are presented in vivid images with age appropriate questions, puzzles and games reinforcing the great truths of faith. And the learning doesn’t end there, as there are take home sheets and a website which families can use to keep these important conversations happening all week long! Church school is available during the Saturday 5pm, Sunday 9:30 am, and Sunday 10:30 am worship services. (Note: there is no church school at the 11 am service.)

Created exclusively for our “Smallest Seeds” Mustard Seeds offers children some great free time to play in the gym with tons of toys as they also meet new friends. We hear Bible Stories, make special crafts, sing and play! When God blesses us with children they come with no instructions and we so often have so many questions. Mustard Seeds is a place where families can meet one another and begin to build a solid support base.
Wednesdays – 4:00pm – 5:30pm – Starting September 26, 2018
For Preschoolers (ages 3 as of 10/1/16 through 5.)
Our STAR Club children have their first experience sharing their stories and listening to God’s great story. Through music and games they explode with the excitement and joy that comes so naturally to them. As a Star Club member the children bring their songs to worship several times throughout the year.
We invite your little one to come and join in the fun every Wednesday afternoon!
Tuesdays – 4:30 – 6:15 – Starting September 11, 2018
For Kindergarten through 5th grade
AIM Club is a fellowship group where children can come and be accepted as themselves. Growing up today can be tough. Through Bible study, choir, recreation and snack, AIM Club helps children discover they are each a Child of God. They begin to know the strength of the Lord within and are ready to not only face each new day but embrace it, ready to love and serve.
Our choirs serve by making a “joyful noise” during worship. We sing several times during the year and participate in a Christmas Eve Service. The children have the chance to explore their own musical gifts as well as to find what fun it is to be part of a bigger whole.
Through AIM Club children have fun, meeting new friends, playing games where being a good sport means more than winning and learning the amazing stories of the Bible.
Each spring we invite our 5th graders and their parents to participate in Disciples Communion a program designed to help students prepare to take Communion.
As a part of the process, parents and students meet with PCTR staff members and are given materials to assist them and their parents in preparing for and understanding the Lord’s Supper. We hope you will plan to be a part of this very important faith-step for your son or daughter.
