A wedding is, first of all, worship of the God who calls a man and woman together in marriage. Recognizing, as you plan your ceremony, that God ordains marriage, you will have a clearer vision of what your wedding service should be.
The first steps toward a joyful wedding and a happy marriage are taken long before the ceremony begins. The time of engagement is a time when the couple thinks about the ceremony, but more importantly, a time when the relationship itself is examined. During your dating relationship and especially during your engagement, the process of learning and growing together –in love and in faith in Christ –has already begun.
A wedding is a celebration and should be an act of joyful worship. As an act of worship the wedding should not become a display or production to impress friends or to conform to social convention.
